YACHT-17: Yet Another Cool Hold'em Tournament.
It's time again for another "Lee Jones Style" home No-limit Hold'em tournament (in the tradition of MATH, MOSFET, and MOTH).
We are currently planing on keeping the YACHT structure (without antes) which we introduced at YACHT-13. The buyin is $60. As before, there are no rebuys or add-ons. We have 15 minute rounds, starting at the 10/15 blind level. After the first hour, there's a break for food as the red chips are raced off the table.
The tournament entry fee is food and/or drink for the pot luck meal at the break after the first four rounds of play. Any finger food (sweet or savory) will do: In the past, we've had sushi, homemade chili, fondue, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, pate, cheeses, cookies, pretzels, crackers, chips and dips, fresh fruit, ... We will also make a collection for take-out pizza for those that are not up to this food challenge.
We have collected together some of the rules for YACHT. I urge all players to review them. There is also an additional page of more details here.
Robert Collins has again offered his home in Morgan Hill as the venue for YACHT. He runs his own monthly tournament, and has provided poker tables and chairs for the past few YACHTs. The exact address will be listed on the eVite. Note that we have a little less space this time, so we have been forced to scale back the number of players..
We have arranged enough poker tables for eight 10-handed tables, or 80 starting players.
We can use some help in getting set up and in running the tournament and supporting the cash games. Let us know if you can help.
We will be starting up one or more cash games after people start busting out of the tourney. We'll likely be playing dealer's choice low limit CHORSEL to start, with the prospect of a baby pot limit game and/or a $6 Lowball (or Draw-only) table starting up after the end of the tournament. At YACHT-6, we had two pot limit tables, a low-limit CHORSEL game, and a Lowball game. We also had a CHORSEL games and pot-limit game at YACHT-7, YACHT-8 and YACHT-9. YACHT-10 had a $1 condition Pan game and a baby No Limit game as well..
We will be starting the tournament promptly at 6:30 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes early to sign in. Doors open at 5:30 PM. There will be announcements made at 6:20 PM..
